About Driftwood Defense

We’re a Lacey-based team covering the South Sound and beyond—serving 36 communities with 22 distinct services that cover everything from carpenter ants and rodents to crawl space restoration and wildlife exclusion. Think of us as your go-to resource for keeping the things that belong outside, well, outside. Whether you’re spotting dampwood termites in a Lakewood craftsman or listening to uninvited guests in an Olympia attic, we show up with a plan that fits the structure, the season, and the ecosystem we all share.

Our approach starts with what’s already working around your property. We lean hard into integrated pest management—drainage fixes before baits, exclusion gaps before treatments, and cultural adjustments like trimming back those cedar limbs brushing against the siding. When products are needed, we prioritize low-impact, targeted applications that consider the sandy soils, wetlands, and marine-layer microclimates defining western Washington. Every route we run carries the mindset: control what’s necessary, preserve what matters. No fear-based recommendations, no one-size-fits-all contracts—just honest assessments that balance immediate relief with long-term prevention.

We live here, so we think in terms of Douglas fir duff, crawl space humidity, and the October rain that sends rodents looking for warmth. Local quirks get local answers:

  • Norway rat burrows along fence lines respond to soil treatment and exclusion differently than roof rats tracing overhead lines.
  • European crane flies (those leggy spring lawn invaders) require timing tied to soil temperatures, not calendar dates.
  • Stinging insect pressure shifts dramatically between the head of Henderson Inlet and the upland lakes of Thurston County, and our protocols shift with it.

That deep familiarity means we’re not guessing with your home—we’re applying patterns we’ve tracked through our own neighborhoods.

At the core, we’re protecting Pacific Northwest homes in a way that makes sense for the Pacific Northwest. That means respecting salmon-bearing streams, native pollinator paths, and the cedar-and-fir canopy that drew most of us here in the first place. You deserve a service that walks in knowing the terrain, talks straight about the options, and leaves your property quieter than they found it—with grounded confidence, not sales pressure. If that sounds like the kind of partnership you’ve been looking for, we’re already in the neighborhood.
